Civic Participation & Employment
Our Vision for Oneida County: To expand opportunities for persons of all ages to engage in meaningful paid employment and volunteer positions free from age discrimination. We will improve the level of participation for people of all ages and abilities to serve older adults.
Highlights
Examples of age-friendly work in the Civic Participation & Employment domain of livability have included:
- In partnership with Oneida County Office for Aging and Continuing Care, 50 Forward MV created a Volunteer Resource Center to connect volunteers of all ages to services for seniors, such as a snow-shoveling program and intergenerational projects.
- 10 Oneida County older adults participated in the Associates for Training and Development (A4TD) program to develop employment skills in 2024.
- An age-friendly flyer promoting self-employment resources was developed with Mohawk Valley Small Business Development Center to promote self-employment resources for Oneida County older adult residents.
